Gil Machado
Born in Dominican Republic, my uncle was part of my influence as a child for art but I was very little, I moved to the US at age 13 in August of 1988, when I was in 9/10th grade my uncle Hans took my brother and I to a comic book store and that re-inspired my interest in art. At that point I wanted to become a comic book artist. I also did share school in 12th grade at Miami lakes tech for advertising and design. Then went to Art Institute for 2 year for computer animation. A friend that I used to skate with loved my work and talked me into tattooing, I bought a kit that came with a book. (Never seen tattooing before but 1 time on that friend) self taught, started in Miami worked at Tuff Stuff Tattoo, then moved north to Davie, FL for a year at Alternative Art Tattoo. After that I worked for 10 years in Pompano Beach at funhouse Tattoo. At this point I decided to take the next big step and open my studio. On feb 10th 2010 I made it happen, opening Black Rose Tattoo in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Since then I have received multiple awards in different tattoo style categories. I was also on TV show Tattoo Titan, worked for a project company called “Tattoo Projects” and “Victory Motorcycle”. I’m also licensed by “Lucas films” (Star Wars, Dune, Indiana Jones, etc).
I’ve had many experiences in my life and truly love what I do. I believe in thinking outside the box and striving for that 110% on every piece I do.
